Water is softened or conditioned by replacing hard ions like magnesium and calcium with softer sodium or potassium ions. The systems clock and program settings would have to be reset by a technician leaving you out of service until he arrives. Avian’s 350E uses NOVRAM memory that will hold these settings indefinitely until power is restored. Avian’s control system is so efficient, the entire controller generally requires less than $2 of power to run annually.

The Avian 350E control incorporates the same solid-state technology used in many of your household appliances. This technology eliminates the need for mechanical gears, timers and motors that can wear out. Superior accuracy is another benefit of this technology when compared to mechanical controllers.

The Avian 350E valve has undergone rigorous fatigue testing, passing 250,000 pressure cycles up to 190 psi and 10,000 complete regeneration cycles. That equals 27 years of uninterrupted use!

The Avian 350E also employs countercurrent regeneration technology. By regenerating the media bed in an upflow direction the brine water comes in contact with the most highly conditioned zone in the bed first. This simple change increases efficiency up to 25%.
